Sunningdale Foursomes

5 November 2019 By Paul @ Golfing Herald

A view of the 18th at the Old Course (Photographer Kevin Diss), by kind permission of Sunningdale Golf Club

I conducted a poll on Twitter posing the question: "What is your favourite season of the year to play golf?" The poll resulted in Spring beating Summer, with Autumn a distant 3rd and Winter not receiving a single vote...can't think why!! Also, what this poll possibly illustrates, albeit based on a small sample of votes, is that Spring was selected not only for it being a … [Read more...] about Sunningdale Foursomes

Golf Hole Names

28 October 2019 By Paul @ Golfing Herald

A view of the Boggle Hole (Photographer Steve Ilston), by kind permission of Bellingham Golf Club

Before launching Golfing Herald I had a myriad of ideas for possible articles, some of which have been realised over the past 10 months or so. Iconic Image of Ian Poulter celebrating Europe's victory at the 2018 Ryder Cup

Earlier today I watched some of the Ryder Cup Captains Press Conference, publicised as '1 Year to Go'. I thought that can't be right as it seems only like yesterday when Europe regained the Ryder Cup at Le Golf National, Paris, winning by 17 & 1/2 points to 10 & 1/2 points. But yes it is correct. Only '1 Year to Go'. The 2020 Ryder Cup will be played from Friday … [Read more...] about Ryder Cup – 1 Year To Go

Clintons Surprise

19 September 2019 By Paul @ Golfing Herald

Former US President Bill Clinton playing at Ballybunion, Ireland, a few weeks before his visit to Harrogate, England

Clintons Surprise is an article based on events that really happened back in June 2001 which involved the 3rd hole at Rudding Park Golf Club (Harrogate, England), a wedding party and William Jefferson Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States of America...but where does one start? I know... I'm quite sad. Look at the facts. Double Maths and Physics at A-Level, read … [Read more...] about Clintons Surprise
